You know something's cool when the folks in your office come to blows over who gets to play with it first. When the R35 webColor Pad came sailing into my office the other day, everyone dove for it at once. Now I'm not condoning violence, but it does have its uses. A few quick shoves, some rude grabbing, an elbow to the kidneys and this baby was mine!

On the face of it, the R35 webColor Pad is nothing but a stinkin' mousepad. But what sets it apart is what's printed on its face. It sports a brilliant palette of 216 colors, handily arranged from green to black by hue. That's all the browser-safe, cross platform colors that Web designers know and love, all handily arranged for easy reference. And not only can you use the webColor Pad for color selection and matching, but each color is also marked with its HTML hex color value.

At first blush, the idea doesn't seem so revolutionary. There are oodles of other color picker programs. But that's the beauty of the webColor pad. Thanks to its low tech approach, it's available all the time -- not just when you're able to spare the RAM to open it up. Throw away those HTML color pickers! Quit opening up Photoshop every time you need to change a background color! The webColor Pad's got 'em all laid out for you on the one thing that never gets covered with junk, thrown away, or spilled on: your mousepad! It's a stroke of genius, I tell ya.

But why believe me? For a measley $12.95 (if you order before 12/31/97), it won't cost you too much to find out for yourself how useful this desktop accessory can be. Heck, it's cheaper than most HTML color picker programs and you can't stuff them in a beloved Webworker's stocking.

Now I just gotta finish nailing it to my desk so it doesn't get stolen...
