Sometimes you have to listen to the children. When the "Long Boom" issue of Wired came out, my then 11 year old son read the breathless cover copy about our techno-utopian global economy and said: "That sounds like a load of crap." A few days ago, he spent minutes playing with the new Ti Slider Hardcase from RhinoSkin before announcing: "This thing stinks." Gee son, tell us what you really feel.

It *sounds* like a cool idea: a svelte Titanium case for the Palm V where the cover can slide back underneath the Palm. Such a feat is all in the hinging and something with the Ti Slider design must have gone horribly wrong. There are two grooves along the top and bottom of the front cover and pins in the back cover. You open the case, slide the cover back along the pins and it snaps into place behind the back cover. The problem is, there's just enough play in the back cover to jam the front as it slides back. It works, but it's tremendously inelegant and noisy. If you're going to spend a hundred smackers on a bloody case for your Palm, it better be an aesthetic and engineering marvel. The Ti Slider is far from it.
